History
As the Town of Beaumont and the Minor Hockey
program grew in the early ‘80’s, a group of people came to the
realization in early 1985 that a Junior Hockey program would be
necessary to keep our youth playing organized hockey in their
own community while completing their education.
The Beaumont Chiefs Junior B Hockey Club was
formed and the colours of Black, Gold, and White (matching the
minor hockey program) were selected. The first two years
the Chiefs played in the Alberta Rural League and won the League
Championship both years advancing to Provincials.
The next season the Chiefs changed to the
Capital Junior Hockey League and ended up in third place (first
ever expansion team to make the playoffs). In 1989-90 they
won the League Championship and went to the Provincials.
Some special games and events held over the
years by the Chiefs were Leduc Bruins Senior Champions,
Australian Junior National Team, Czechoslovakian Junior Team,
CJHL All-Star Game, Annual Alumni Game, also the Annual Chief
Golf Tournament.
Twenty years later the Beaumont Chiefs Junior
Hockey Club are still proud to be part of hockey and the town.
